My Photo Style
I’m a natural woman. Yes, just like Aretha Franklin sings it.
When I do a shoot, I prefer to work with as much natural light as possible. I actually try to avoid using the flash whenever I take photos. Natural lighting gives a subject dimension, and I love the softness and texture in a photograph’s composition when taken in good lighting. My idea of a perfect photo shoot include a crisp morning with overcast skies. I always love the feel of a photo when working in those conditions.
When clients ask me where to take their photos, my first suggestion is their home. This is especially important when I photograph children. Not only do I want to capture a part of their daily ritual, but I also want to make the photo shoot as comfortable and secure for them as possible. What better spot is there than their natural setting?
What do I look for when I prepare for a shoot in someone’s home? Natural textures – solid colors, soft fabrics, natural light from the windows, tall fences with great textures, green vegetation.
Did you recognize the theme? ha ha! I like nature. I love the natural.
